Evolve Bike Camps teach beginner, intermediate and advanced cycling lessons to campers 6-15. Our program is based on similar principles of our successful skateboard and scooter camps and focuses on improving fundamentals as well as teaching park etiquette.

Our day camp program has been expertly designed by our directors to teach campers the foundations of cycling – primarily in BMX and Mountain Biking. Our staff of instructors teach within safe limits in a step-by-step method that focuses on improving camper’s fundamental skills, balance, coordination and style. We offer the opportunity to build the fundamental and technical skills to take your cycling to the next level, specializing in providing the steps to building a solid foundation for any type of cycling application. Whether you’re piloting the trails, shredding down the mountains or boosting airs, Evolve has you covered with instructions specialized to your present skill level bringing you through to new heights!

BMX Camps

BMX Camps

Our day camps include bus transportation to multiple locations within the week in order to expose campers to new challenges, surfaces and skills. Our bus program has multiple pick-up and drop-off locations — campers are picked up in their area and driven right to the bike/skate park for a full day of lessons, activities, pool time and other great programming.

Mornings are spent in a group setting practicing fundamental biking skills. Our instructors are seasoned riders who methodically take Evolve campers through each step of their cycling development. After lunch, campers are given time to work on the specific skills they are trying to master. Under the supervision of our staff stationed throughout the park or course, Evolve campers begin to challenge themselves and each other by working on improvements through repetition. Our instructors are always on hand to work with campers, giving tips and encouragement, and to help correct flaws and accelerate learning.

We know that is nearly impossible to ride all day for the youngsters. That’s why Evolve offers a dynamic roster of programs to keep campers revved up. Additional programming includes fully-supervised swimming for 1-2 hours in the afternoon when there is a swimming pool on site, games, races, and even guest pros to help instruct campers and give away swag and prizes!

Gear Check – All Campers will check their bikes to make sure they’re working properly and will put on safety gear.

Anytime there is a pool near the park, we take our campers for some well-deserved cool down time. Pool costs are included in camp fees, so any camper with a bathing suit and towel is welcome to jump in! Swimming is always supervised by lifeguards as well as Evolve Camps staff members.
Prizes & Giveaways
Throughout the week campers can win a variety of prizes from our sponsors as well as bike related swag and parts. Prizes are given out as rewards for achievements such as camper progression, camper of the day, and for having a good attitude. Sometimes, everybody wins!
Contests
Throughout the week, campers will get to participate in contests and other camp organized events. Evolve organizes mini-competitions to encourage campers to practice and develop themselves to their highest potential.
Guest Pros
Evolve invites guest professional coaches to show up at camp throughout the summer. They inspire and instruct campers plus give away unique swag and prizes.
Photos & Videos
Evolve Camps produces a weekly highlight video from each session. We also post lots of videos and pictures on our social media. This is the best way to see what we were up to throughout the week.

  • Stretching & Mental Prep
    Stretching & Mental Prep

    It’s all about connecting with your bike, feeling the ground beneath your tires. Being limber and focused. Every morning before campers get going with their program one of our instructors leads them through a basic stretch and preparation session. Things such as mental preparation and visualization of their goals being achieved, as well as the positive and relaxing affects of deep breathing and stretching are introduced.

BMX Overnight Camp

BMX Overnight Camp

Evolve’s Overnight BMX Camp takes your kids to Haliburton, Ontario for an incredible overnight BMX, scooter, and skateboard summer camp. Camp Timberlane is nestled in the forest on a private lake, the perfect setting for this ultimate summer camp experience.

Campers receive personalized instruction every day from our seasoned coaches and spend the week riding our private skatepark and custom-built BMX course, plus a variety of local skateparks, to develop and improve their skills. Open to all skill levels. Campers also participate in a wide range of other fun activities throughout the week like waterskiing/wakeboarding, rock-climbing, paddle-boarding, archery tag, knocker soccer, and so much more.

This program is designed to provide kids who are into action sports with the most amazing experience they can possibly imagine! The fun doesn’t stop there. Action-packed meal times, our onsite ice cream parlour, a campout night in the camp tree house, and everything else Camp Timberlane has to offer ensures that your kids enjoy the ultimate summer camp experience at Evolve’s Overnight BMX Camp to the fullest.

    Important Information

    Evolve’s Overnight BMX Camp takes place at Camp Timberlane which is located in Haliburton, Ontario. Campers meet the bus on the first day of each session at a convenient location in Toronto (e.g. Seneca College) for a ride up to the campsite.

    For this summer, we are offering two week-long sessions. Week 1 is open to campers aged 6-14. Week 2 is open to campers aged 9-14.

Skill Levels

All campers upon arrival will undergo a skill assessment to ensure safety and proper program placement. At Evolve Bike Camps, our well developed biking and BMX lesson plans ensure that campers of all skill levels are making the most out of their time at camp. Evolve’s highly structured format allows campers to advance through the different biking levels and become more confident as their skill level improves – this could be over the course of the week, the summer, or several summers at Evolve Bike Camps.

Beginner
Beginners at Evolve Camps are introduced to basic biking and trick movements within the first hour of camp. As the day continues and campers get comfortable with the terrain, we slowly introduce them to the first level of flat ramps. As the week goes on, beginner campers are shown basic skills from pumping on half pipes to doing their first Bunny Hop (like a bike version of an ollie!). We also teach campers how to properly fall, as any cyclist will do as much falling as biking when they are learning. As the week continues; individuals will grasp certain skills quicker, so group sizes are broken down to ensure that campers are continuing to learn what interests them most.
Intermediate
Intermediate biking lessons at Evolve range from dropping in and basic vert tricks to basic flatland tricks. Intermediate campers take part in structured morning lessons in their groups, this allows them to learn new skills in the morning and practice them in the afternoon. The Intermediate campers are offered additional assistance in the afternoon sessions to help perfect their new skills.
Advanced
Advanced campers come to Evolve camps with a set of goals for the week in mind. That is why our advanced campers have one-on-one instructor time in the afternoon. Allowing advanced riders to warm up in the morning gives the coaches an opportunity to see what type of tricks each camper is working on that day. Through the Evolve Camps process, advanced campers will leave camp with a new arsenal of tricks.

Equipment

Campers must have their own biking equipment to be safe and successful – it’s much easier to learn how to bike when you’re comfortable using your own gear: this is important for all skill levels, beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Here is a list of equipment you will need for your child to attend our programs:

Bikes
These are available in from your local bike shop. Check out Harvester Bikes
Knee & Elbow Pads
Mandatory for campers 15 and under - these are available in our shop.
Helmets
Bike/Cycling specific - these are available in our shop. *Hockey, and Climbing helmets are not designed for the same protection, and are not allowed.
Shoes
For your feet.
Other Recommended Products
Gloves (proper snug fit, full fingered)Shin pads and/or long pants (helps limit scraps and burns from pedals and tires). Mistakes will be made!
Lunch & Water Bottle

    Each camper is sufficiently and safely coached and supervised from their arrival to their departure. To reduce the inherent risks while riding, we ensure that all campers master the fundamental skills at each level of progression. We employ a “challenge by choice” philosophy, which means we never force anyone to do something they’re not comfortable doing. Instead we give them the tools to succeed and offer the challenge: it’s there for the taking!
