We are getting ever closer to the start of Summer 2018 and we could not be more hyped for the summer that we have planned. One of our most exciting new additions for this upcoming summer is our new skateboard & scooter camps in Whistler, BC!

Whistler is known across the globe as a prime destination for the extreme and the awesome due to it’s fantastic hills for skiing & snowboarding. These snow-lovers need something to do in the summer months, so there really is no off-season for stoke here in Whis’.

The Camp

Evolve’s Whistler Skateboard & Scooter Camp is a drop-off only day camp operating out of Whistler Skatepark (keep scrolling for more information about Whistler Skatepark). Campers are dropped off each morning at the park to receive personalized instruction and work side-by-side with our qualified coaches on their skateboarding & scootering skills!

The Skatepark

While the Whistler Skatepark was originally opened in 1991 for the growing community of snowboarders, the newest renovations and expansions were done in 2016; making this picturesque Canadian city home to the second largest skatepark in the nation (over 50,000 square feet of skateble space). This incredible park is surrounded by towering cedar and fir trees, with a rushing alpine stream nearby – we couldn’t ask for a better location for an unbeatable week of camp.

The Whistler Skate Park is centrally located between the Village and Fitzsimmons Creek, and open daily from April to November between dawn and until the lights shut off at 1 a.m.

The park contains a serpentine run into a 6.5-metre diameter “Snake Bowl”, a cherished and unique feature in North America. A second area contains a variety of ¼ pipes up to three metres high, a spine, volcano and central pyramid. The expansion linked the two previous phases of the skate park and incorporates long flowy lines with multiple ledges and street-style elements that allow skaters to pump and flow for speed.

The Other Stuff

Here is a clip of some local pros showing us how to ride every bit of this epic skatepark. Enjoy!

Along with it’s status as one of the world’s premier ski/snowboard destinations, it is also considered one of the top places in the world for mountain biking. There are many kilometres of trails in the Valley to ride, a bike skills park next door to the skatepark, and the world’s best and biggest bike park around. Consider spending a little more time than planned in Whistler and take a bike for rip on the trails.
